Overview
Installing the data cabling infrastructure across 2 large distribution warehouses located in Lutterworth. These are mixed use warehouses for fulfilment and offices.
Client aim
To install a Fibre and CAT6 infrastructure across the warehouse and support the installation of connectivity and IT hardware.
The work we completed:
- Fibre Infrastructure including installation of + 35 Cabinets
- Installation of IP CCTV Network
- + 60 Cameras
- Installation of Wi-Fi Access Points
- + 100 WAP’s
- Installation of CAT6 Data
- + 1400 CAT6 Data Outlets around office, warehouses and reception areas.
Considerations:
- Both sites ran concurrently.
- Deadline to hit for the client so they do not receive penalties.
- Working at height of 22 Metres.
- Infrastructure from other contractors being installed around us whilst working.
Special considerations
2 different businesses working within both warehouses meaning 2 different coloured cables was used to recognise the 2 different infrastructures. The work was to be completed and handed over before the hard deadline.
Services we delivered
- Data cabling – the CAT6 infrastructure is used to supports the Wireless Access Points, packing stations, print stations, clock in, goods in and offices.
- Cabinets – we strategically located remote cabinets in locations that we support growth and reduce remedial data cabling costs. Meaning as they grow and the warehouse has racking and becomes more populated. If they require anything these cabinets will keep the additional cable runs short and minimise disruption.
- Fibre optics – Their fibre backbone utilises an OM4 Multimode Fibre with LC to LC connections, from their MDF (Main Comms Cabinet) to their IDFs (Remote Cabinet).
- Wi-fi installation – our IPAF qualified engineers installed over 100 Wireless Access Points through the site.
- Smart hands support – we unboxed their IT kit, captured the mac address and serial numbers and labelled all their kit. Then followed their topology guide and provide them with an as fit diagram so they knew exactly how their hardware was set up.
- Racking and stacking – working with the customers cabinet layout to ensure the cabinet was built exactly they way they want it.
- First day support – a competent set of hands who helped their staff move in and get setup. and installing it in to a new cabinet.
